How to Add HBO Max to Roku

Is it possible to view HBO Max on older Roku models?
Roku, the largest supplier of streaming devices in the United States market, has multiple generations and models of its various media players. As a result, it’s safe to assume that not all older Roku models will have access to HBO Max. Keep in mind that you’re limited to detours without an official app. But don’t give up just yet. If your Roku device can mirror your screen, follow the steps above. However, to stream with Apple AirPlay 2, iOS devices must have the most recent Roku OS.

HBO Max may be able to compete with streaming services like Disney+ and Hulu in terms of features and content catalogs, but its device compatibility is significantly limited. You won’t be able to stream the app if you have an Amazon Fire TV or Roku device, for example. This represents a sizable chunk of the streaming viewership.

How to get HBO Max videos on your Roku
Past HBO apps have never had a way to download content to use offline. Now that it has been updated, you can download up to 30 movies or TV shows at once. The catch is that you can’t do it on your Roku—you can only do it on your phone or tablet. You’ll have to delete a title when you’re done with it before you can download another.
Like most streaming apps, HBO Max gives you 48 hours to watch an episode after you start it before it deletes itself. Even if you don’t open the file, it will stay in your downloads folder for 30 days before it goes away.
Once you open the app on your phone or tablet, find the title you want to download and tap it. Click the icon next to the video that says “Download.” Once the video is completely downloaded to your device, it will be in a folder called “Downloads” in the app.
